Description
The Cascade Mountains in Central Oregon and Dee Wright Observatory frame the Milky Way in late summer. The observatory rests in the volcanic lava beds at the summit of the mountain pass through the Cascade Mountains. The landscape looked so much like the one the astronauts would find on the moon, NASA and its astronauts trained in the lava fields before their historic moon landing.
